COVID-19 Safety Plan

The West Kootenay Timberwolves’ COVID-19 Safety plan was developed using the Safety Plan tool from viaSport that was adapted from WorkSafe BC to align with the sport sector.

The Timberwolves’ Safety Plan is based on the following documents:

The BC Lacrosse (BCLA) Return to Lacrosse Guidelines Phase 3;

The Arena Reopening Safety Plan for the Castlegar and District Community Complex; and

The viaSport COVID-19 Safety Plan Template

For ease of reference, this Safety Plan follows the structure of the BCLA Return to Lacrosse Phase 3 Guidelines (“BCLA Return to Lacrosse Guidelines”). This Safety Plan is based on guidance current as of March 26, 2021. The plan will be amended as new information and guidance becomes available.

West Kootenay Timberwolves win season opener double header; look forward to home opener
Castlegar/Rossland, BC – The Timberwolves junior lacrosse team kicked off the 2019 season with a pair of wins against the Outlaws in Cranbrook this week-end.

Eric Reid scored the opening goal and contributed 5 goals on Saturday, with Dustin Perepolkin scoring the sudden death overtime goal 2 minutes into overtime. The Timberwolves defeated the Outlaws 9-8. Alex Forshaw opened the score with an early goal in Game 2 on Sunday. The Timberwolves kept the lead throughout the game and went on to win 8-7. Strong goaltending and special teams were key to the Timberwolves’ success this week-end.

The coaching staff was pleased with the results. Coach Kevon Floyd says “It was a fun opening week-end with two closely matched teams”. Head Coach Peter Youngblut says “After weeks of practice it was nice to finally hit the floor in Cranbrook and get this season going. The guys came out with lots of energy and managed to pull out the two victories. We are hoping to build off that success to provide our fans, sponsors and our community an exciting weekend of lacrosse with our home openers on May 11 and May 12.”

The Timberwolves will face the Medicine Hat Sundevils on Saturday May 11 at 2 pm and the Sylvan Lake Yetti on Sunday May 12 at 11 am. The Timberwolves are also hosting a game between the Sundevils and the Yetti on Saturday May 11 at 8:30 pm. All three games are at the Castlegar Complex and doors open one hour prior to faceoff time.

The Timberwolves are accepting new players born 1998-2002. Interested athletes can contact the club at, on Facebook, or on Instagram (timberwolveslax).
